On Wednesday 16th October John and Roger, landlords of the Railway Inn, Ripple, held their monthly quiz night, this time, in aid of Bowel Cancer UK, in memory of Hollie. There were twelve teams taking part in the quiz, a delightful mix of seasoned "quizzers" and "keen amateurs". Everyone entered into the spirit of having a good time and raising money for such a worthy cause. Everyone was very generous by taking part, donating prizes to the raffle, buying tickets and donating. The more generous raffle prizes were auctioned to raise even more money and by the end of the night £600 had been raised. This was truly amazing and Hollie's mother Jane, on behalf of Hollie's family who were present (Hollie's brother Jim, his fiance Nikki and stepfather Rob and Hollie's godmother Janet Hill) thanked everyone for taking part and especially John and Roger for hosting this event. Jane also urged everyone to complete a FIT test (Faecal Immunochemical Test) when received and especially for young people who do not get a FIT test automatically, to go to their GP to investigate any symptoms they may have, as if diagnosed early this is a treatable disease.
